Small restaurant with wide selection. I went with a group of 7 and was good for that large size. I had Huarache with steak and was great. Also had tamarind drink which was excellent

My new favorite takeout spot. The meat is well seasoned, juicy, tender with so much flavor. Rice and beans are also very good, not dry or plain at all. Great salsas and sauces. HANDS DOWN THE BEST HORCHATA I’ve ever had in my life. Thanks for existing Zapoteca!

Oaxacan cuisine with a wide selection of other Mexican staples, with many daily specials to keep an eye on. Easily my favorite Mexican restaurant in Moorpark, and probably all of Ventura County. The value for quality flavor and portions is unrivaled.

amazing food, 10/10 service. food is so unique and nostalgic that you will be in awe. the best food in Oxnard, dare i say the best food in California. idk who the cook is but they deserve their own cooking show.

I don't have a bit of Hispanic heritage in me. But if I did, I have to imagine La Zapoteca would make me feel nostalgic for a family that isn't mine. It's a tiny place. Unassuming. But the food. Oh my, it's made with love. The flavors are deep and complex and rich and salty and spicy and warming. The cafe de olla is maybe the best I've ever had. The salsa macha is perfect (I can't get mine to come out the same at home). Is there better Mexican food in the area? Maybe. It's southern California, we're spoiled with culture. But is there a better restaurant to take a break from the craziness of life and share a meal with family and friends? That, I'm not so sure. La Zapoteca is comfort, pure and simple.

This restaurant has a truly authentic Mexican vibe. The food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend stopping by—especially for the chilaquiles. They’re incredible!

I really don’t like telling people about great finds because then the place gets overrun. The food here is amazingly phenomenal. I know over the top! I’m not kidding though. Do not expect atmosphere. It’s just really good food.
